# What Is KYC And When Do I Need It?

KYC (Know Your Customer) is an identity check. **You don't need it** for the trial or for normal plan purchases.

KYC, together with a review of your use case, is only needed if you ask us to:

- unblock a website that is blocked by default (see [blocked websites](https://proxyempire.io/docs/are-there-any-blocked-websites/)),
- open ports other than 80 and 443. Port 25 is never opened, and sending emails is not allowed on any proxy type: see [Port 25 usage](https://proxyempire.io/docs/port-25-usage/).
