# Why Is My Proxy Not Working?

Check these common causes first:

- **Wrong credentials:** copy the username and password again from the Proxy Manager. The username changes when you change targeting.
- **No bandwidth left:** check your balance in the Proxy Manager or on the Top Up page.
- **Blocked website:** financial, government and other high-risk sites are blocked. See [blocked websites](https://proxyempire.io/docs/are-there-any-blocked-websites/).
- **Closed port:** only ports 80 and 443 are open by default.
- **UDP traffic:** not supported. Use HTTP, HTTPS or SOCKS5 over TCP.
- **Targeting too narrow:** a small city combined with a specific ISP may have few or no IPs available. Try a wider area.
