Italy at a glance
Why a local IP changes what you see
Italy is a founding member of the European Union and one of its biggest consumer markets. Rankings on Google.it, prices on Amazon.it, listings on Immobiliare.it and the ads served to Italian users all depend on where the request comes from. Location matters inside the country too: German is co-official in South Tyrol and French in the Aosta Valley, so a search from Bolzano can return different pages from the same search in Naples.
Italian sites also check what kind of network a visitor is on. On well-protected sites, traffic from a data centre gets flagged as a bot straight away. Traffic from a TIM or Fastweb home line looks like an ordinary Italian customer, because that is what it is.
| Fact | Figure | Why it matters for proxy work |
|---|---|---|
| Population | 58.94 million (1 January 2026) | A deep pool spread over 20 regions, so city and ISP targeting samples real regional differences. |
| Currency | Euro (notes and coins since 2002) | Italian shops set euro prices separately from French or German ones, so a local IP reveals the real Italian price. |
| Sales tax | 22% VAT (reduced rates 10%, 5% and 4%) | Shelf prices on Italian sites include Italian VAT, so they rarely match the same product in another EU shop. |
| Tourism | โฌ56.7 billion spent by foreign visitors (2025) | Lazio, Lombardy, Veneto and Tuscany take more than half of it, and travel prices are tuned to where the visitor appears to be. |
| Mobile market | 78.9 million SIMs used by people (March 2026) | Four operators hold most of the market: Fastweb + Vodafone 25.2%, WindTre 23.6%, TIM 22.3%, Iliad 16.1%. A realistic pool needs all four. |
| Language | Italian; German co-official in South Tyrol, French in the Aosta Valley | Regional sites and SERPs switch language by location, so a Bolzano IP and a Rome IP can see different pages. |
| EU member | Founding member (1957) | GDPR applies, and EU geo-restricted content treats Italian IPs as fully European. |

What our Italy coverage actually reaches
Read from the live API, not a brochure
Most providers list Italy as a single country checkbox. Here you can pin a session to the region, city and network your target cares about, using the same API our dashboard reads.
All 20 Italian regions
That is every region, including the five with special autonomy: Sicily, Sardinia, the Aosta Valley, Trentino-Alto Adige and Friuli Venezia Giulia.
504 targetable cities and towns
Coverage goes far beyond Rome and Milan. Regional capitals, provincial towns, resorts and commuter suburbs can each be targeted separately. The 73 best-known:
Resorts such as Sorrento, Sirmione on Lake Garda, Sanremo and Olbia, and German-speaking Bruneck in South Tyrol, can each be targeted separately.
Italy mobile proxy carriers
Italy has four national mobile networks and all four are covered: TIM, Vodafone, WindTre and Iliad. Vodafone Italia was bought by Swisscom at the end of 2024 and merged into Fastweb on 1 January 2026; both brands still sell separately, and Fastweb’s mobile SIMs now run on the former Vodafone network. Digi (on Vodafone’s network), spusu (on WindTre’s) and Tiscali (on TIM’s) are virtual operators. All eight brands can be targeted on their own.
Fixed-line ISPs
All the national broadband networks are covered: TIM, Fastweb, Vodafone, WindTre, Iliad, Sky Italia and Tiscali, plus fixed-wireless operator Eolo, Optima, Digi and Aruba. In total there are more than 55 distinct operators, including regional networks such as Planetel in Bergamo, Intred in Brescia, Unidata in Rome, Irpinia Net-Com in Campania, Global Com Basilicata and Bruneck’s municipal utility in South Tyrol, plus Starlink satellite connections.
Why the long tail matters. Anti-bot systems look at which network a request comes from, and a pool built from three or four big carriers is easy to spot. Small networks too, like a fibre operator in Brescia or a wireless ISP in Irpinia, are what make your traffic look like ordinary Italian households.
What teams use Italian proxies for

Local SEO & SERP tracking
Check Google.it rankings, map packs and ads from Rome, Milan, Naples or Bolzano instead of a generic EU location.
Travel & hospitality pricing
Compare hotel and flight prices shown in Venice, Florence, Sorrento or Olbia against Milan or abroad, in one of Europe’s biggest tourism markets.
Ad verification
Confirm that campaigns targeted at Italy render in Italian on the placements you paid for, and catch fraud before it burns budget.
Social media management
Run Italian accounts from mobile IPs on TIM, Vodafone, WindTre or Iliad, or pin each account to its own static IP.
Property & classifieds research
Collect listings and asking prices from Immobiliare.it, Idealista.it, Casa.it, Subito.it and AutoScout24.it at scale without CAPTCHAs or geo-blocks.

Free Italy proxy lists vs paid Italian proxies
Why free lists rarely work on Italian sites
Free Italy proxy lists are easy to find, but most entries are open servers already scanned and abused by thousands of other users. They go offline within hours and are usually blacklisted by the Italian sites you want to reach.
| Free Italy proxy lists | ProxyEmpire Italian proxies | |
|---|---|---|
| IP source | Open or hijacked servers, mostly data centres | Real Italian homes and TIM, Vodafone, WindTre and Iliad SIM cards |
| Uptime | Minutes to hours before an IP disappears | Always-on pool, with rotating, sticky or static IPs |
| Blocks | Usually blacklisted on major Italian sites | Looks like an ordinary local visitor |
| Targeting | Country at best | Region, city, ZIP, ISP, ASN and OS fingerprint |
| Security | Unknown operator can log or alter your traffic | Authenticated access over HTTP(S) or SOCKS5 |
| Cost | Free | From $1.50/GB, with a $1.97 trial |

Italy proxy FAQ
Straight answers
What is an Italian proxy (IT proxy)?
An Italian proxy, or IT proxy, gives you an Italian IP address so websites treat you as a local visitor. An Italy residential proxy goes further: it routes your traffic through a real Italian household’s connection, so sites see a genuine local visitor on a network like TIM or Fastweb instead of a data centre.
Can I target specific Italian cities or ISPs?
Yes. You can target all 20 regions, 504 cities and towns, and more than 55 local ISPs, including TIM, Fastweb, Vodafone and WindTre. Residential and mobile proxies can also be targeted by ZIP code, ASN and OS fingerprint. Datacenter and static residential proxies are targeted at country level.
Do you offer Italy mobile proxies?
Yes, on all four national networks: TIM, Vodafone, WindTre and Iliad, plus the Fastweb, Digi, spusu and Tiscali brands. Mobile IPs are shared by many real subscribers, which makes them among the hardest IPs for websites to block.
Do you have Italian datacenter proxies?
Yes. Rotating datacenter proxies with Italian IPs start at $25 for 40 GB and go down to $0.35/GB on larger plans. They are targeted at country level and suit high-volume work on lightly protected sites. For well-protected sites, use residential or mobile IPs.
How much do Italy proxies cost?
Rotating residential starts at $1.50/GB on larger plans, rotating mobile at $2.00/GB and rotating datacenter at $0.35/GB. Static residential IPs cost $3.50 for a single IP and go down to $2.00 per IP a month at 2,000 IPs. Italian targeting is included at no extra charge.
How do I buy Italian proxies?
Sign up in the dashboard, start with the $1.97 trial, then pick Pay As You Go or a larger plan from the pricing table. Choose Italy as the country and you are ready to connect.
Can I keep the same Italian IP?
Yes, in two ways. Rotating residential, mobile and datacenter proxies all support sticky sessions, which hold the same Italian IP across requests. If you need a permanently fixed IP, static residential gives you a dedicated Italian residential IP for the whole month, traffic included.
Which protocols and tools are supported?
HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5. The proxies work with any scraper, headless browser, anti-detect browser or HTTP library, and there is no limit on concurrent sessions.
Is using a proxy legal in Italy?
Proxies themselves are legal in Italy and across the EU. What matters is how you use them: respect websites’ terms of service and GDPR when collecting personal data.
