France at a glance
Why a local IP changes what you see
France is the European Union’s second-largest economy and one of its biggest online markets. Google.fr results, prices on Cdiscount, Fnac and Darty, Leboncoin listings and the ads served to French users all depend on where the request comes from. A Belgian or Swiss IP gives you a different page, and French-language results differ substantially from the English ones an international IP surfaces.
French sites also check what network a visitor is on. On well-protected sites, data centre traffic is flagged as a bot straight away. Traffic from an Orange or Free home connection looks like an ordinary French customer, because that is what it is.
| Fact | Figure | Why it matters for proxy work |
|---|---|---|
| Population | 69.1 million (1 January 2026) | A large pool across 13 régions, so city and ISP targeting samples real regional differences. |
| Economy | Second-largest in the EU, about 16% of EU GDP (2025) | Pricing here moves markets across the euro area, making France a benchmark worth watching. |
| Online spending | €196.4 billion in 2025, across 3.2 billion transactions | A very large domestic market with heavy promotional cycles — exactly what price monitoring is for. |
| Currency | Euro, in the euro area since 1 January 1999 | Prices are in euros, but French VAT, delivery and promotions are local — only a French IP shows them reliably. |
| Language | French, Latin script | French SERPs and marketplace listings differ substantially from English ones, and only render properly for French IPs. |
| Mobile networks | Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom, Free Mobile | All four licensed national networks are covered, so mobile traffic looks like an ordinary local subscriber. |
| EU member | Founding member, since 1 January 1958 | GDPR applies, and EU geo-restricted content treats French IPs as fully European. |

What our France coverage actually reaches
Read from the live API, not a brochure
Most providers list France as a single country checkbox. Here you can pin a session to the région, city and network your target cares about — today’s targeting, pulled from the same API our dashboard uses.
All 13 metropolitan régions
That is every région of metropolitan France, Corsica included. The API does not return the overseas régions, so Guadeloupe, Martinique, Réunion, Mayotte and Guyane are not targetable separately.
1,592 targetable cities and towns
Coverage goes far beyond Paris, Lyon and Marseille: suburban communes, Riviera resorts, Alpine towns and small sous-préfectures can each be targeted on their own. The 74 best-known:
Resort towns like Biarritz, Arcachon, La Grande-Motte and Chamonix can each be targeted separately, and so can dozens of Paris-region communes — useful for hotel price checks, where a visitor on the coast often sees different offers from someone in Paris.
Mobile carriers
France has four licensed mobile network operators and all four are covered, so you can pin a session to any national carrier instead of taking whichever one a generic pool hands you.
Fixed-line ISPs
All four big French broadband providers are covered — Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free — alongside more than a dozen smaller networks: Nordnet, K-Net, the managed-wifi operator Wifirst, the academic network RENATER, and public fibre networks such as Hérault Télécom, Moselle Télécom, Orne THD, Rézocéan, Vialis and Cap’Aix Connectic. Starlink and Skylogic satellite links cover the rural long tail.
Why the long tail matters. Anti-bot systems look at which network a request comes from, and a pool built on Orange and SFR alone is easy to spot and rate-limit. Mixing in Free and Bouygues lines, regional fibre in the Hérault or the Moselle and a rural satellite link is what makes traffic look like ordinary households.

Free France proxy lists vs paid French proxies
Why free lists rarely work on French sites
Free France proxy lists are easy to find, but most entries are open servers already scanned and abused by thousands of users. They go offline within hours and are blacklisted by the French sites you want to reach.
| Free France proxy lists | ProxyEmpire French proxies | |
|---|---|---|
| IP source | Open or hijacked servers, mostly data centres | Real French homes and Orange, SFR, Bouygues and Free SIM cards |
| Uptime | Minutes to hours before an IP disappears | Always-on pool, with rotating, sticky or static IPs |
| Blocks | Usually blacklisted on major French sites | Looks like an ordinary local visitor |
| Targeting | Country at best | Région, city, ZIP, ISP, ASN and OS fingerprint |
| Security | Unknown operator can log or alter your traffic | Authenticated access over HTTP(S) or SOCKS5 |
| Support | None | 24/7, from real people |
| Cost | Free | From $1.50/GB, with a $1.97 trial |

France proxy FAQ
Straight answers
What is a French proxy (FR proxy)?
A French proxy, or FR proxy, gives you a French IP address so websites treat you as a local visitor. A France residential proxy goes further: it routes traffic through a real French household’s connection, so sites see a genuine local visitor on a network like Orange or Free, not a data centre.
Can I target specific French cities or ISPs?
Yes. You can target all 13 metropolitan régions, 1,592 cities and towns, and more than 18 local ISPs, including Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free plus regional fibre and satellite networks. Residential and mobile also support ZIP, ASN and OS fingerprint targeting. Datacenter and static are country-level.
Do you offer French mobile proxies?
Yes, on all four French networks: Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free Mobile. Mobile IPs are shared by many real subscribers, which makes them among the hardest for websites to block.
Do you have French datacenter proxies?
Yes. Rotating datacenter proxies with French IPs start at $25 for 40 GB, down to $0.35/GB on larger plans. They are country-level and suit high-volume work on lightly protected sites. For well-protected sites, use residential or mobile instead.
Do you sell static residential IPs in France?
Yes. France is one of the countries where static residential proxies are available. You get a dedicated French residential IP that stays the same all month, from $3.50 for one IP down to $2.00 per IP at 2,000 IPs, traffic included under a 100 GB fair-use cap.
How much do France proxies cost?
Rotating residential starts at $1.50/GB on larger plans, rotating mobile at $2.00/GB and rotating datacenter at $0.35/GB. Static residential runs $3.50 for one IP down to $2.00 per IP a month at 2,000 IPs. French targeting is free, and you can start with a $1.97 trial.
Can I keep the same French IP?
Yes. Rotating residential, mobile and datacenter all support sticky sessions, which hold the same French IP across requests. For a permanently fixed IP, use static residential.
Which protocols and tools are supported?
HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5. The proxies work with any scraper, headless browser, anti-detect browser or HTTP library, and there is no limit on concurrent sessions.
Do you offer real human support?
Yes. Support is staffed 24/7 by real people, not a bot or an overnight ticket queue. If a French target starts behaving oddly at three in the morning, someone is there to look at it with you — which most proxy providers do not offer.
Is using a proxy legal in France?
Proxies themselves are legal in France and across the EU. What matters is how you use them: respect terms of service and GDPR when collecting personal data.
