A proxy provider rents you IP addresses to send your traffic through, so websites see the proxy’s IP and location instead of yours. Teams use them for web scraping, price monitoring, SEO and ad checks, and running several accounts. The best proxy for you depends on the job: rotating residential for most scraping, mobile for the strictest sites, static ISP IPs for long-lived accounts and datacenter for cheap bulk traffic. We compared 14 proxy services across all four types on price, targeting, trials and support. You can also see every proxy type ProxyEmpire sells.

The residential price is the one number every provider here publishes in the same unit: the regular rate on its smallest residential plan, then the lowest regular rate it publishes at 1 TB or less. Bright Data is shown at its current 50% discount; other promotions are in the reviews. Mobile prices in the reviews are today’s prices, including ProxyEmpire’s standing 50% discount (list $9.00 → $4.00/GB). Per-IP prices are monthly. — means no residential trial is listed. SOAX mentions ISP and datacenter proxies but publishes no page or price for them, so only its residential and mobile proxies are listed. Checked on 26–29 September 2026.
How we compared proxy providers
What decides the bill and the resultsA “best proxy” list only helps if it compares like with like. We checked which proxy types each provider actually sells, then what each type costs at the volume you are likely to buy, how precisely you can target locations, and how easy it is to test first.

Which proxy type do you need?
Pick the type before the provider| Your job | Proxy type | Price range here |
|---|---|---|
| Scraping, price monitoring, SEO and ad checks | Rotating residential | $1.00–$7.00/GB, falling to $0.70–$3.36 at 1 TB |
| Social media, app testing, the strictest sites | Rotating mobile (4G/5G) | $1.25–$7.50/GB; dedicated lines $109–$250 a month |
| Long-lived accounts and allow-listed logins | Static residential (ISP) | $1.80–$5.00 per IP a month |
| High-volume jobs on lightly protected sites | Datacenter | $0.23–$0.625/GB, or $1.15–$2.50 per dedicated IP a month |
Residential IPs belong to home connections, so most sites treat them as ordinary visitors; compare them in our guide to the best residential proxies. Mobile IPs are shared by many real phone users behind carrier networks, which makes them the hardest to block; see the best 4G and 5G mobile proxies. Static ISP IPs never change, which suits accounts that sign in from one place (best ISP proxies). Datacenter IPs are the fastest and cheapest but the easiest to spot (best datacenter proxy providers).
SOCKS5 is a protocol, not a proxy type. It carries any TCP traffic, so apps such as Telegram or game launchers can use it; most providers here offer it on every type. Our guide to the best SOCKS5 proxies covers the exceptions.
How to choose a proxy provider
A six-point checklist- Start with the job, not the pool size. A 100M-IP network is no help if it lacks the type or country you need.
- Price it at your volume. Compare the rate at the plan you will actually buy, not a headline that needs several terabytes.
- Check what targeting costs. City, ZIP, ISP and ASN targeting are included by some providers and charged extra by others.
- Ask what happens to unused data. Rollover or non-expiring traffic protects you in quiet months; 30- or 60-day expiry does not.
- Check protocols and login. Make sure your tools support the provider’s SOCKS5 or HTTP setup and its username or IP allow-list login.
- Test before you commit, and read the blocked-sites list. Most providers restrict some targets; ProxyEmpire, for example, blocks banks, payment and crypto sites. A small trial on your own targets tells you more than any pool size.
Free proxies and proxy sites
Why we don’t publish a listFree proxy lists are open servers that anyone can find, so they are slow, often already blocked, and run by people who can log or alter your traffic. Free proxy websites that load a page inside your browser are fine for a quick look at a public page, but they add ads, break logins and video, and can’t be used by apps or scrapers. We don’t publish a list because it would be out of date within days. Safer ways to start for free or almost free are Webshare’s 10 free datacenter proxies, Byteful’s free 1 GB, Decodo’s three-day trial and ProxyEmpire’s $1.97 trial. If you only need a proxy in your browser, see our guide to the best web proxies. The terms of the sites you visit and your local laws apply whichever proxy you use.
Proxy provider FAQ
Short answersWhat is the best proxy service in 2026?
ProxyEmpire, in our 2026 comparison: residential, mobile, static residential and datacenter proxies on one account, residential from $3.50/GB down to $1.50/GB, targeting included, rollover bandwidth and a $1.97 trial.
Which type of proxy is best?
For most jobs, rotating residential. Choose mobile for the strictest sites and phone-based accounts, static ISP for accounts that need one IP for weeks, and datacenter for cheap, fast bulk traffic.
How much does a proxy cost?
Among these 14 providers, residential costs about $1 to $7 per GB on small plans, mobile $1.25 to $7.50 per GB, ISP IPs $1.80 to $5 a month and dedicated datacenter IPs $1.15 to $2.50 a month.
What is the difference between residential and datacenter proxies?
Residential IPs come from home internet connections and look like ordinary visitors. Datacenter IPs come from servers: faster and cheaper, but much easier for sites to detect and block.
Can one provider cover every proxy type?
Yes. ProxyEmpire, Decodo, Proxy-Seller, Oxylabs, Bright Data, Byteful, IPRoyal, Rayobyte and MarsProxies all sell residential, mobile, ISP and datacenter proxies.
What is the most anonymous type of proxy?
Mobile and residential IPs are the hardest to tell apart from real users. Any paid private proxy hides your IP from the site, but the provider can still see which sites you connect to.
Are free proxies safe?
Rarely. Public proxies are shared, slow and run by strangers who can log or change your traffic. A free plan or a low-cost trial from a known provider is the safer test.
Can I try a proxy before buying?
Yes. ProxyEmpire’s $1.97 trial covers residential and mobile, Decodo offers three days free, Byteful 1 GB free, SOAX $1.99 for 400 MB and Webshare a free plan.
Are proxies legal?
Using a proxy is legal in most countries. What matters is what you do with it, so follow the laws and the sites’ terms that apply to your use.
Should I use a proxy or a VPN?
A VPN routes a whole device through one server for privacy. Proxies let each tool, account or request use its own IP and location, which is what scraping and account work need.
