Real Malawian IPs on Airtel and TNM
Malawian proxies on both of Malawi’s mobile networks, Airtel and TNM, and on residential connections in Lilongwe, Blantyre and Zomba. Our Malawi proxies give you a genuine Malawi IP address from a TNM, Globe Internet or Starlink connection, or from an Airtel, TNM or Afrimax mobile network, with rotating or sticky sessions.
Priced per GB, not per IP: residential from $1.50/GB, mobile from $2.00/GB. Unused bandwidth rolls over.
Choose your Malawi proxy type
Two ways to get a Malawi IP address
Rotating residential
Residential IPs in Lilongwe, Blantyre and Zomba on TNM, Globe Internet and Starlink, all through a single Malawi proxy server endpoint. Best for price monitoring, SERP tracking and data collection from Malawian sites.
- Region, city, ZIP, ISP and ASN targeting
- New IP per request or sticky sessions
- OS fingerprint targeting (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android)
- Pay as you go from 1 GB
Rotating mobile
Malawi mobile proxy IPs on Airtel and TNM in Lilongwe and Blantyre, plus Afrimax 4G in Blantyre. Best for social media, app testing and strict anti-bot systems.
- Region, city, ZIP, carrier and ASN targeting
- OS fingerprint targeting
- Rotate on demand or keep a sticky session
Need the same IP for weeks at a time? Static residential proxies are not offered in Malawi; use a sticky session to hold the same Malawian IP on residential or mobile. Datacenter IPs are not available in Malawi at the moment.
Malawi at a glance
Why a local IP changes what you see
Search results, telecom bundles, job listings and the ads served on Malawian news sites all depend on where a request comes from. A visitor in Lilongwe sees local pages, local offers and prices in kwacha; a request from a foreign server often gets a generic version, or is blocked.
Malawi is also a mobile-first market: at the 2018 census about half of all households had a mobile phone, while fewer than two in a hundred had a landline. A request from a Malawian home connection or phone network looks like an ordinary local customer, while data-centre traffic is far more likely to be flagged.
| Fact | Figure | Why it matters for proxy work |
|---|---|---|
| Population | 17.56 million at the 2018 census; 16% lived in urban areas | Most people live outside the big cities, so region-level targeting reaches far more users than a city filter alone. |
| Administrative units | Three regions (Northern, Central, Southern) and 28 districts | Our API targets the region level; the Central and Southern regions held 87% of Malawians in 2018. |
| Main cities | Lilongwe, Blantyre, Mzuzu and Zomba | Three of the four are targetable today: Lilongwe, Blantyre and Zomba. |
| Currency | Malawi kwacha (MWK, K), with tambala coins, issued by the Reserve Bank of Malawi | Malawian shops and operators quote prices in kwacha, so collect them from the local version of a site. |
| Languages | English and Chichewa are both widely used | Most Malawian sites are in English; searches and ads can mix both, so check what local users actually get. |
| Phones and internet | 51.7% of households had a mobile phone, 1.5% a landline and 16.4% internet access (2018) | Phones are the main way online, which makes Malawi mobile proxy IPs the most natural-looking traffic. |
| Mobile networks | Airtel and TNM | Both networks are in our mobile pool, in Lilongwe and Blantyre. |

What our Malawi proxy coverage actually reaches
Read from the live API, not a brochure
Whether you run one proxy Malawi-wide or pin a session to a region, city or network, here is exactly what you can target today, taken from the same API our dashboard uses.
2 of Malawi’s 3 regions
Our API targets Malawi at the level of its three regions, not its 28 districts. The Central and Southern regions are selectable for both residential and mobile proxies; together they were home to 87% of Malawians at the 2018 census, and 22 of the 28 districts lie inside them. The Northern Region, including Mzuzu, cannot be selected today, and we do not list it as covered. A country-level session draws on the whole Malawian pool.
3 targetable cities
Every city the API returns for Malawi: the capital Lilongwe in the Central Region, and Blantyre and Zomba in the Southern Region. That is three of the four cities the National Statistical Office counts as Malawi’s main urban areas; the fourth, Mzuzu, cannot be targeted as a city. Mobile IPs can be pinned to Lilongwe or Blantyre; Zomba is available on residential proxies.
Malawi mobile proxy networks
Malawi has two mobile networks, Airtel and TNM (Telekom Networks Malawi), and both are in our mobile pool, in Lilongwe, in Blantyre and across the Central and Southern regions. No Malawian mobile network is missing. The pool also includes Afrimax, a 4G/LTE broadband network in Blantyre; Afrimax IPs are available in Blantyre and the Southern Region only.
Malawian ISPs in the residential pool
Residential IPs come from three networks: TNM; Globe Internet, a Malawian internet service provider; and Starlink satellite internet. All three can be targeted in Lilongwe, and Globe Internet also in Blantyre. Zomba is targetable by city, without an ISP filter. Airtel IPs are available through mobile proxies rather than the residential pool.
Honest counts, real addresses. Three cities and three home networks will not suit a job that needs IPs spread across every district. They do cover the capital, Blantyre and Zomba, both mobile networks, and the two regions where almost nine in ten Malawians live.

Free Malawi proxy lists vs paid Malawian proxies
Why free lists rarely work on Malawian sites
Type “free proxy Malawi” into a search engine and you will find a handful of entries at best. Most are open servers already used by thousands of people; they go offline within hours, are often not in Malawi at all and are blocked by the sites and apps you want to reach. A $1.97 trial of real Malawian IPs costs less than the time lost on dead proxies.
| Free Malawi proxy lists | ProxyEmpire Malawian proxies | |
|---|---|---|
| IP source | Open or hijacked servers, mostly data centres | Real Malawian homes and Airtel and TNM SIM cards |
| Uptime | Minutes to hours before an IP disappears | Always-on pool, with rotating or sticky sessions |
| Blocks | Usually blacklisted on major sites | Looks like an ordinary local visitor |
| Targeting | Country at best | Region, city, ZIP, ISP, ASN and OS fingerprint |
| Security | Unknown operator can log or alter your traffic | Authenticated access over HTTP(S) or SOCKS5 |
| Cost | Free | From $1.50/GB, with a $1.97 trial |

Malawi proxy FAQ
Straight answers
What is a Malawian proxy (MW proxy)?
A Malawian proxy, or Malawi proxy server, gives you a Malawi IP address, so websites treat you as a visitor from Malawi. A residential Malawian proxy goes one step further: it routes your traffic through a real connection on a network such as TNM, Globe Internet or Starlink instead of a data centre, which makes it far less likely to be blocked.
Can I target specific regions, cities or ISPs in Malawi?
Yes. You can target the Central and Southern regions, three cities (Lilongwe, Blantyre and Zomba) and three Malawian ISPs. Residential and mobile proxies can also be targeted by ZIP code, ASN and OS fingerprint, at no extra charge. The Northern Region and Mzuzu are not available as targets today.
Do you offer Malawi mobile proxies?
Yes, on both Malawian mobile networks, Airtel and TNM, in Lilongwe and Blantyre and across the Central and Southern regions, plus Afrimax 4G/LTE in Blantyre. Mobile IPs are shared by many real subscribers, which makes them among the hardest IPs for websites to block.
Do you have Malawian datacenter or static IPs?
Not at the moment. Datacenter and static residential proxies are not offered with Malawian IPs. For a long-lived Malawi IP address, use a sticky session on residential or mobile.
How much do Malawi proxies cost?
Rotating residential costs $3.50 for 1 GB on Pay As You Go and as little as $1.50/GB on larger plans; rotating mobile costs $4.50 for 1 GB, down to $2.00/GB. Plans are billed in US dollars, per GB rather than per IP, and Malawian targeting is included. You can start with a $1.97 trial.
Can I keep the same Malawi IP address?
Yes. Rotating residential and mobile proxies both support sticky sessions, which hold the same Malawian IP across requests instead of switching on every request.
Do the proxies work on Malawian sites in English and Chichewa?
Yes. English and Chichewa are both widely used in Malawi, and a Malawian IP gets you the local version a visitor in Lilongwe sees, in either language, over HTTP, HTTPS or SOCKS5.
Is there a free Malawi proxy that works?
For a one-off look at a page, a free proxy sometimes works. For regular work, no: free lists for Malawi are short, the entries are slow, often flagged and may not be in Malawi at all, and their operators may log or resell your traffic. There is no way to choose the city or network.
Is using a proxy in Malawi legal?
Proxies are a standard tool for price monitoring, SEO and ad verification. What matters is how you use them: respect websites’ terms of service, and follow Malawi’s Data Protection Act, 2024 whenever you collect personal data.
