Germany at a glance
Why a local IP changes what you see
Germany is the European Union’s largest economy and its largest online retail market. Search results on Google.de, prices on Otto, Idealo, MediaMarkt and Kaufland, listings on mobile.de and ImmobilienScout24, and the ads served to German users all depend on where the request comes from. An Austrian or Dutch IP gives you a different page, with different prices and often a different product range.
German sites also check what kind of network a visitor is on. On well-protected sites, traffic from a data centre is flagged as a bot straight away. Traffic from a Telekom or Vodafone home connection looks like an ordinary German customer, because that is what it is.
| Fact | Figure | Why it matters for proxy work |
|---|---|---|
| Population | 83.4 million (31 March 2026) | The largest population in the EU, spread over 16 states, so city and ISP targeting samples real regional differences. |
| Economy | Largest in the EU: โฌ4.5 trillion, 23.8% of EU GDP (2025) | Most pan-European pricing and ad tests start with Germany, because it is the market that moves the numbers. |
| Online retail | โฌ83.1 billion in online goods sales (2025) | Europe’s biggest e-commerce market, so German prices and delivery fees are the ones competitors watch most closely. |
| Currency | Euro (notes and coins since 1 January 2002) | German VAT, shipping and promotions still differ from other euro countries, and only a German IP shows them. |
| Language & script | German, Latin script | Local SERPs, reviews and social feeds only show up properly for German IPs and locale settings. |
| Mobile networks | Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, O2 | The three largest national networks are all on ours, so mobile traffic looks like an ordinary German subscriber. |
| EU & Schengen | Founding EU member (1958); Schengen signatory since 1985 | GDPR applies, and EU geo-restricted content treats German IPs as fully European. |

What our Germany coverage actually reaches
Read from the live API, not a brochure
Most providers list Germany as a single country checkbox. Here you can pin a session to the state, city and network your target cares about. This is the targeting available today, pulled from the same API our dashboard uses.
All 16 federal states
Coverage is complete at state level: every Bundesland can be targeted on its own, from the city-states to the rural north-east.
1,251 targetable cities and towns
Coverage goes far beyond Berlin, Munich and Hamburg. Ruhr industrial towns, Baltic and North Sea resorts, Alpine towns and small district centres can each be targeted on their own. Here are 74 of them:
Holiday destinations such as Sylt, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Baden-Baden and Titisee-Neustadt can each be targeted separately, which matters for travel and hotel price checks: a visitor on the coast often sees different offers from someone in Berlin.
Mobile carriers
These are Germany’s three largest mobile networks, and between them they carry the great majority of German SIM cards, including most discount brands that resell their capacity.
Fixed-line ISPs
More than 80 German networks can be targeted by name. The national operators are all covered โ Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, O2 Deutschland, 1&1 Versatel and Deutsche Glasfaser โ alongside cable and regional carriers such as PลธUR, Tele Columbus, NetCologne, M-net, EWE Tel, htp, Plusnet, inexio, TNG Stadtnetz, wilhelm.tel, LEW TelNet, envia TEL, NetCom BW and Thรผringer Netkom, plus municipal utility networks, university networks and Starlink satellite connections.
Why the long tail matters. Anti-bot systems look at which network a request comes from, and a pool drawn from two or three big providers is easy to spot. Germany’s broadband market is unusually fragmented โ hundreds of Stadtwerke and regional fibre operators alongside the national carriers โ so a pool that mixes a Telekom line in Hamburg with municipal fibre in Bamberg looks like ordinary German households.

Free Germany proxy lists vs paid German proxies
Why free lists rarely work on German sites
Free Germany proxy lists are easy to find, but most entries are open servers already scanned and abused by thousands of other users. They go offline within hours and are blacklisted by the German sites you want to reach.
| Free Germany proxy lists | ProxyEmpire German proxies | |
|---|---|---|
| IP source | Open or hijacked servers, mostly data centres | Real German homes and Telekom, Vodafone and O2 SIM cards |
| Uptime | Minutes to hours before an IP disappears | Always-on pool, with rotating, sticky or static IPs |
| Blocks | Usually blacklisted on major German sites | Looks like an ordinary local visitor |
| Targeting | Country at best | State, city, ZIP, ISP, ASN and OS fingerprint |
| Security | Unknown operator can log or alter your traffic | Authenticated access over HTTP(S) or SOCKS5 |
| Cost | Free | From $1.50/GB, with a $1.97 trial |

Germany proxy FAQ
Straight answers
What is a German proxy (DE proxy)?
A German proxy, or DE proxy, gives you a German IP address so websites treat you as a local visitor. A Germany residential proxy goes one step further: it routes your traffic through a real German household’s connection, so websites see a genuine local visitor on a network like Telekom or Vodafone instead of a data centre. That makes it far less likely to be blocked or shown non-local content.
Can I target specific German cities or ISPs?
Yes. You can target all 16 federal states, 1,251 cities and towns, and more than 80 local ISPs, including Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, 1&1 Versatel and dozens of regional cable and fibre networks. Residential and mobile proxies can also be targeted by ZIP code, ASN and OS fingerprint. Datacenter and static residential proxies are targeted at country level.
Do you offer German mobile proxies?
Yes. Rotating mobile proxies are available on Germany’s three largest networks: Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone and O2. Mobile IPs are shared by many real subscribers, which makes them among the hardest IPs for websites to block.
How much do Germany proxies cost?
Rotating residential starts at $1.50/GB on larger plans, rotating mobile at $2.00/GB and rotating datacenter at $0.35/GB. Static residential IPs cost $3.50 for a single IP and go down to $2.00 per IP a month at 2,000 IPs. German targeting is included at no extra charge, and you can start with a $1.97 trial.
Do you have German datacenter proxies?
Yes. Rotating datacenter proxies with German IPs start at $25 for 40 GB and go down to $0.35/GB on larger plans. They are targeted at country level and suit high-volume work on lightly protected sites. For well-protected sites, use residential or mobile IPs instead.
Can I keep the same German IP?
Yes, in two ways. Rotating residential, mobile and datacenter proxies all support sticky sessions, which hold the same German IP across requests instead of switching on every request. If you need a permanently fixed German IP, static residential proxies give you a dedicated residential IP for the whole month, with traffic included.
Which protocols and tools are supported?
HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5. The proxies work with any scraper, headless browser, anti-detect browser or HTTP library, and there is no limit on concurrent sessions.
What support do I get if something breaks?
Support is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by real people rather than a bot or an unattended ticket queue. Reach us at any hour about targeting, authentication or a job that suddenly started getting blocked.
Why not use a free Germany proxy?
Free proxies are slow, blocked on most major sites, and often run by operators who log or resell your traffic. If you are not paying for the product, your data usually is the product. For anything work-related, a paid residential proxy is safer and far more reliable.
Is using a proxy legal in Germany?
Proxies themselves are legal in Germany and across the EU. What matters is how you use them: respect websites’ terms of service and GDPR when collecting personal data.
